  • Refaced cabinets provide a high-end appearance, enhancing the overall value of the home, which is especially beneficial for house flippers looking to maximize return on investment.

  • Cabinet refacing is a faster process compared to a full remodel, minimizing disruption and allowing for quicker turnarounds.

  • By reusing the existing cabinet structure, refacing reduces waste and promotes sustainability while still delivering a fresh, modern look.

What is the process of Cabinet Refacing?

The cabinet refacing process typically involves the following steps:

  1. Consultation & Design:

    • A professional will assess your existing cabinets and help you choose new finishes, door styles, and hardware that match your vision.

  2. Preparation & Removal:

    • The existing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware are removed, and the cabinet boxes are cleaned and prepped for fresh paint and side panels.

  3. New Doors & Drawers:

    • Custom and pre-designed doors and drawer fronts are installed, providing an updated style that complements the refinished boxes.

  4. Install Hardware:

    • New knobs, handles, and pulls are added to complete the transformation.

  5. Final Touches & Inspection:

    • The refaced cabinets are carefully inspected, adjusted, and cleaned. Any final touches, such as touch-up painting or finishing, are completed.

  6. Cleanup & Completion:

    • The area is cleaned, and the cabinets are ready to use, now looking like new but without the cost and hassle of a full cabinet replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is cabinet refacing, and how does it differ from replacing cabinets?

Answer: Cabinet refacing involves replacing the cabinet doors, drawer fronts and hardware while keeping the existing cabinet boxes. A specialized hard urethane enamel epoxy paint is applied to the exterior surfaces, giving cabinets a fresh look. In contrast, replacing cabinets involves completely removing the old ones and installing brand-new units, which is expensive, time-consuming and more disruptive to your family.

2. How disruptive will the installation process be?

Answer: Our refacing process was purposely designed with our clients in mind. We understand you need your cabinets! Our goal is for you to never to be without your cabinets except when our installer is on site. Depending on the size and complexity of your project refacing is a minimally invasive project. To ensure a pleasant customer experience we use specialized products and superior craftsman techniques including our ‘No Spray Painting’ policy in our customers homes. Although this is a faster process for contractors, this was found to be more disruptive for our clients and their households. Since the cabinet boxes remain in place, the project is much faster than a full cabinet replacement. Clients should budget 2-4 days from the time your old cabinet doors are removed until a completed project. Your installation consultant will be more than happy to discuss exact project timelines specific to your project.

3. Is cabinet refacing a cost-effective option?

Answer: Yes! Refacing can save homeowners 10’s of thousands of Dollars compared to a full cabinet replacement. It’s an excellent way to update the kitchen’s appearance without the high costs of tearing out and installing new cabinetry.

4. Can I change the layout of my kitchen with cabinet refacing?

Answer: No, refacing does not change the structure or layout of your kitchen because it only updates the exterior surfaces. However, some modifications—like, additional shelving, upgrading to soft close hinges, changing the overlay type of your cabinet door and switching out hardware—can be done alongside refacing for a refreshed look and improved functionality.

5. How long does cabinet refacing last?

Answer: When done professionally with high-quality materials, refaced cabinets can last 15 to 20 years or more with proper care. We use durable materials made in the USA, to enhance longevity. In a factory, your cabinet doors undergo a ‘conversion varnish application’ which is a complex paint method used to increase overall durability. This process increases hardness, clean-ability, yellowing resistant, paint elasticity and cabinet longevity to a level a painter handyman can not achieve by simply painting your existing cabinet doors.
